Will it leave scars?
No! Hijama therapy does not leave scarring. Your skin will have a slight graze/scab within the first 3 days, and you may have some skin discolouration (looks like bruising), but your skin should be healed over within 7-10 days. However, it is important to remember that each persons body heals at different rates and some may take longer than others.
What is Hijama?
Hijama is the process of using vacuum suction cups to create negative pressure on the skin, then lightly scratching the epidermis layer of the skin to draw out toxins from the stagnant blood in the body.
Why is it so highly recommended?
Hijama is the practice of our beloved Prophetﷺ. He Recommended Cupping to us and said "Cupping (Hijama) on an empty stomach is best. In it is a cure and a blessing. It improves the intellect and memory." - Reported by Ibn Umar (Sudan Ibn Majah 3487)
Anas Ibn Malik reported that the Prophetﷺ said, "Indeed the best of remedies you have is cupping (Hijama)." (Sunan Ibn Majah 3476)
When is it recommended?
According to Hanafi Madhab, Cupping should be avoided on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but if there is an urgent need for Hijama then there is no problem in doing so.
The Prophetﷺ said “if anyone has himself cupped on the 17th, 19th, 21th it will be a remedy for every disease” (Sunan Abi Dawud 3861)
